In Karachi’s busy social and cultural calendar, gatherings that bring together people from different professional circles remain a familiar feature. The worlds of entertainment, media, politics and business converged as familiar names from across the city’s cultural and public life gathered for an evening hosted by the Lifestyle Journalists Association. Recognising artists and their contributions to the entertainment industry was at the heart of the occasion which brought together established artists and younger industry figures alongside political representatives, media professionals and members of the business community.
Among the notable guests was veteran actor Mustafa Qureshi, one of the enduring figures of Pakistan’s film industry, whose career includes appearances in more than 500 films. He was accompanied by his son, musician and actor Aamir Qureshi. The guest list also included actor Faisal Qureshi, television host Sahir Lodhi, comedy duo Irfan Malik and Ali Hassan, actor Ayaz Khan and singer Nirmala Meghani.
The gathering also attracted figures from public and diplomatic life, including the Ambassador of Morocco Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Member of the National Assembly Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and Member of the Provincial Assembly Allah Yar Wasan.
Representing the Lifestyle Journalists Association were Akhtar Ali Akhtar, Raheel Baig, Iqra Awan, Nimra Riyasat and Nauman Gul, alongside other guests from the media and business sectors.
A celebratory moment came when Mustafa Qureshi cut a cake in honour of Afzal Adhia, bringing a more personal note to an evening otherwise centred on the exchange of ideas, professional connections and appreciation for the country’s artistic community. Faisal Qureshi shared his appreciation for the association and the recognition extended to him.
For an industry often divided between the demands of the screen, stage, press and public life, gatherings of this nature offer a chance to step outside the usual professional rhythm. The presence of veteran performers alongside contemporary television and film personalities also reflected the breadth of Pakistan’s entertainment fraternity, while the participation of political, diplomatic, media and business figures underscored the wider social networks in which the arts continue to operate.
