Dear Ed,
I am a regular reader of Us and this is the first time I am writing to you. I read this week’s (September 25) cover story, ‘Bullies be gone’ by Zoya Bajwa and Abubaker Bajwa, and was compelled to write to you. Ed, I was a victim of bullying at my school. The bullies were teachers’ favourites as they were very well-behaved in their presence. The teachers did not believe me when I complained and I was the one who got scolded. I really think teachers need to be trained to spot bullies and protect students under their supervision.

Dear Ed,
I am a new reader of Us and I really like the stories and articles published in the magazine. I particularly like ‘The Green Room’. I want more entertainment stories in Us. I also like ‘Comic Relief’. I have a suggestion: can you publish more stories? And can you also do stories on Pakistani sports personalities? Keep up the good work!

Dear Ed,
I am a teacher and I encourage my students to read Us magazine. I discuss the ‘Did You Know?’ section of ‘Bits n Pieces’ in the general knowledge class that we have once a week. ‘Behind closed doors: the children Pakistan’s protection systems cannot see’ by Humaira Noreen, in the September 18 issue, was really thought-provoking. It highlights the plight of tens of thousands of children who are forced to work as domestic servants. Stories of cruelty towards them by their employers are common, but unfortunately nothing is done by the government to curb the practice. Ms Humaira Noreen rightly pointed out that many people take in these children because they think that the children would be provided with food and shelter, which their parents cannot give them. I understand this point of view, but it is not right and child domestic labour should end. The government should ensure that all children are provided with free schooling. This is a tall order, I do understand, but it can be done if started on a small scale, area by area. I commend you for publishing articles on such important issues.
