Eilleen Regina Twain
Born on August 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Has two sisters, Jill and Carrie Ann.
Parents divorced when she was two.
Was raised by her mother and stepfather whom she considers her father.
Had a difficult childhood.
Started singing at bars when she was eight.
Helped take care of her younger siblings after her mother and adoptive father’s death in 1987.
Released her self-titled debut album in 1993.
Gained the attention of rock producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange who offered to work with her. Formed a songwriting partnership with Lange and rose to fame, releasing three massively successful albums and gaining country pop crossover stardom.
Married Lange in 1993 and had a son, Eja (born in 2001), with him. Separated from Lange in 2008 after he had an affair with her best friend, finalising the divorcing in 2010. Married her
former best friend’s ex-husband Frédéric Thiébaud in 2011.
Published her autobiography, From This Moment On, in 2011.
Took a years-long hiatus because of Lyme
disease and dysphonia from around 2004 till 2011 before returning to music.
Released her seventh and most recent album, Little Miss Twain, this year.
