‘The promise’ by Memoona Mukhtar in the issue of August 14 was a touching story and inspiring as well. We should think about people who lay down their lives for our country to make us safe. In this week’s issue (August 21), ‘Tea: how we became so fond of it’ by Zohaa Shakeel was a very informative and interesting read. If there is a national drink, it is surely tea. Also, the cover story ‘The hidden struggles of student life’ by Muhammad Irtaza was spot on: he is so right when he says that the pressure is constant and there is no escaping it. Great issue!

In the issue of August 21, the cover story, ‘The hidden struggles of student life’ by Muhammad Irtaza resonated with me. I am constantly under pressure to follow in the footsteps of my older siblings, who are medical students, although I want to become a teacher. My parents say teachers are underpaid and that I will compare myself with my siblings when I see them become successful and wealthy. I understand their concerns, but I have always loved and admired my teachers. I have also noticed that some of my friends become short-tempered and anxious because of projects and assignments. I am naturally good at studies, but some friends struggle and become upset when they cannot achieve the grades their parents expect. I believe Irtaza’s article was very relevant to student life.

Need for a laboratoy
Dear Editor,
My school needs a laboratory for science subjects because practical experiments help us understand concepts better. Practical work makes learning easier, more interesting and enjoyable. Without a laboratory, students cannot carry out experiments or gain first-hand experience of scientific concepts. This can affect both their studies and their understanding of science. I request the concerned authorities to provide our school with a properly equipped science laboratory so that students can learn through practical experience.
